As a child, I loved working in my dad's workshop. The smell of the various woods and the feel of the hand tools were fascinating to me. As an adult, when I wasn’t teaching or coaching, I was mending fragile antiques, or repairing coffee tables and piano benches, or sketching unique wood projects for family and friends.
Over the years, the garage became less of a place to park a car and more of a place to hone my skills. When I retired in 2016, I turned my passion for the craft into a full-time business.
I don’t really have a favorite type of wood or preferred style of furniture, but I do love taking something old and making it look new… or taking something new and making it look old. Odd-sized fence posts, weathered barn wood, ages-old tree trunks that were uprooted in a storm – most wood can be re-purposed, and nearly every piece has, or is given, a story.
